Coreopsis

Coreopsis grandiflora and hybrids

Coreopsis is a long-blooming sunny perennial that offers clear daisy color, fast seasonal lift, and dependable pollinator support.

Coreopsis is useful because it reads brightly even from a distance and keeps repeating if it is lightly maintained. It can thread through grasses and other dry-border plants without making the planting feel heavy.

The plant usually performs better in sunny, moderately lean soil than in rich beds. Too much fertility can push floppy growth, while a little restraint keeps the stems shorter and the flowering cycle steadier.

Microclimate

Coreopsis handles hot open situations well as long as drainage is decent. It is often stronger on the dry side than in soft, irrigated border conditions.

Neighborhood observations

In neighborhood plantings it is especially good for brightening sunny edges that need a cheerful filler rather than a heavy focal plant.
